3/2/11
Nothing
Had soccer training tonight.

3/3/11
A.M. 8.9 Miles
Ran around the golf course this morning. Decent run, but I was pretty tired.

3/4/11
P.M. Gym - 1.7 Hours
Had some time to get to the gym tonight. Did a little strength training, rowing, biking and then ended with a pretty good swim of .25 - .5 miles.

3/5/11
Early A.M. 13 Miles
I had big plans for this morning. I wanted to do a 20 - 26 mile run. I headed out to Bear Creek Park, the place of my 50K. I thought I would be able to remember the route I ran, but it turned out I made several wrong turns. The morning was nice.

Here is a photo from the top of Mt. Carbon. You could see downtown Denver clear as day.

I had three river crossings to get across and I thought since it was still early season, the water would be low. But nope, it was just as high as it was last October. So I had to find a log upstream to get across.

Here is a picture of one of the three river crossing I had to get across. Only one crossing had any fallen branches to hop across. Otherwise I was hoping across rocks that were 1" - 2" above water and very scarce. My shoes did get quite wet.

Heading across some plains, I came across a herd of some deer. There were about 10 - 15 and they just watched as I slowly ran by.

It was a great day to run, but unfortunately as I was coming up on mile 13, I had severe stomach cramping to the point where I had to stop running and sit down. I wanted to try to finish with a 10K or another 13 mile lap, but knew I couldn't do it with the pain in my stomach.

3/6/11
P.M. 7.9 Miles
Ran around the neighborhood.

I've learned the hard way that if I take a day off, it is hard to get back into the routine the next day. It is so easy to let a day pass by and call it a recovery or rest day. If only I had a little more time each day.

TOTAL:
Week: 39.7 miles
YTD: 313 miles

Jenny YTD: 14.1 miles
Elias YTD: 20.3 miles

2/27/11
Early A.M. 4.8 Miles
Ran the golf course. Pretty decent morning, but my left calf is starting to cramp.

Late A.M. 4.7 Miles
Ran the golf course again. My left calf is definitely starting to cramp pretty bad. My time was pretty slow, but I was also pushing E in his stroller. Hopefully I can push through the calf pain and finish the day strong.

Early P.M. 5.4 Miles
Ran around the neighborhood. Found some long stretches of grass which definitely helped with my calf. One more run yet today, then done for the week.

Late P.M. 6.8 Miles
I went out only thinking I was going to do 3.5 miles. The pain in my calf was pretty rough and I was pretty tired. But once outside, I smelled the fresh night air and I was gone. My stride was pretty good and the pain wasn't so bad.

Weekly Training Review: Jan 31 - Feb 6

1/31/11
P.M. 4.6 Miles
Heaving snow on the ground and I think it ended up to be in negative temps. It was pretty cold outside and I didn't stay out too long.

2/1/11
Nothing
I had a very bad allergy attack last night that kept me up until 3 a.m. I stayed home from work today and I have no energy to do anything but sleep and try to recover. I feel like I lost 10 pounds since yesterday. Can't figure out what the attack was from.

2/2/11
Nothing
Still trying to recover from my Monday allergy attack. Unfortunately, I had another attack tonight, probably from the same stuff on Monday, which I still cannot figure out what it is. Not as bad as Monday, but enough to keep my body pretty run down.

2/3/11
Nothing
Now recovering from last nights' attack. My body is pretty run down and don't want to overdo it.

2/4/11
P.M. 4.6
Jenny and E headed up to the condo yesterday. I had some time after work and I went for a pretty easy run around the golf course. Surprisingly, after all my body went through this week, I felt pretty good. I have a soccer game at 11:35 tonight and then I'm headed up to the condo myself. I'm hoping to get in a good run before hitting the slopes in the morning.

2/5/11
A.M. 4.7 miles
Got up to the condo at 2:00 a.m. and went to bed. Had to be up at 6:00 a.m. to move the car so I decided to go for a run. It had snowed about six inches over night and continued to snow. I headed on the trail from Copper towards Vail. I passed the groomer on the way. I was running in about 4 inches of powder snow.
All Day - Snowboarded
Got on the slopes at 9ish and the snow was still coming down strong. Had a great day of powder snowboarding. I think we had about 10 - 12 inches of fresh snow.

2/6/11
Nothing
Took 2.5 hours to get down from the mountain and my body was pretty sore from boarding yesterday.

Powder Day

The family headed up to Copper Mtn. for the weekend. Matt, Jenny's brother was in town to do some skiing. And did he ever get some nice weather for it.

It started snowing on Friday and it just kept coming down. Over 10 inches had fallen by the time we woke up the next day. Powder everywhere. And it just kept snowing all day. Matt, Aaron, Terry and Kate all headed out while Jenny stayed back with E. We all worked hard as we were plowing through some deep snow. We had the best time in the back bowls where there were hardly any people.

Here is a picture of one of the runs we were about to do. Not a soul in site and hardly touched 14 inch deep powder. We did this run several times.

Here are some pictures of us at the bottom of the run. You can't see Kate in the picture as she is always the one taking the shots.

Here is another picture of us in the later afternoon. The wind started to blow a bit and the snow was still coming down.

Jenny did make it out on the mountain for a couple of runs on Sunday morning, but she didn't get to stay out too long as we had to get back to Denver.
