Overnight hike...in snow

With the weather warming up in Denver, we decided we'd see what it was like in the mountains. We planned a quick overnight trip near Golden Gate Canyon State Park. The forecast for Denver was in the 60s, and we knew it'd be colder it Golden...just not as cold as it was. We left home Friday afternoon around 2:00 and drove up. It was a short two mile trip to camp. I think I carried twice as much as Jenny.

It was Leroy's first camping trip, too. He was pretty cold, but seemed to enjoy being outdoors nonetheless.

We set up camp and heated up dinner as quickly as we could, as it looked like snow would be upon us shortly.

We headed down early and quickly Saturday morning, trying to warm up and get home. We spent the rest of the weekend trying to warm up. It will be a while before we go winter camping in a $20 tent again.
